Briefed to take the original flagship product for the company and create its next iteration, the focus revolved around reimagining and enriching it with advanced advertising capabilities, telemetry functionalities, and hub control features, ultimately transforming it into a versatile and innovative sanitizing solution.
Recognizing the immense potential of the sanitizing station as an advertising platform due to the captive audience while dispensing. I embarked on a strategic transformation re-engineering the unit's structure, seamlessly integrating a screen within the redesigned body. This addition provided an extra dimension to its primary functionality, enabling targeted advertising campaigns. The implementation of telemetry facilitated data collection on product effectiveness, streamlining the servicing process.
The transformation journey involved a comprehensive overhaul, from meticulously specifying and sourcing the screen to intricately remodelling the sheet metal and panelling. These efforts led to a series of physical enhancements. We rigorously pursued a significant quality upgrade, transitioning from conventional fixings to sophisticated sheet metal geometry. This not only eliminated previous manufacturing challenges but also ensured the product's durability and integrity.
To facilitate a seamless transition to mains electricity, we revamped the electronics, transitioning the power supply from 6V to meet higher voltage requirements. Moreover, we integrated a micro PC to support video playback. Initially, the PCB was developed externally for rudimentary prototypes, and later, it was adapted and integrated into a dynamic loop of engaging advertisements, offering a compelling visual experience.
As the pandemic gradually subsided from its peak, we made the strategic decision to shelve the product, considering long-term sustainability.
